About Maine Death with Dignity

Maine Death with Dignity (formerly known in Maine as It’s My Death) is a 501(c)(3) public charity organization providing services, education, and end-of-life advocacy.

A major program of our work is supporting implementation by ensuring that patients, providers, and policy makers in our state have clear and unrestricted access to necessary information about the Maine Death with Dignity Act.

On June 12, 2019, Governor Janet Mills signed LD 1313, the Maine Death with Dignity Act, into law. The law took affect on September 19, 2019.
